Devotion of the week: “Paul is arrested” / 금주의 묵상: “바울이 체포됨”

Acts 21:27-36,25:9-12 (Please read the Bible passage first) /

From Corinth, Paul sailed across the sea, visiting some of the churches he had started. His long journey ended at the seaside city of Caesarea from where he traveled on land back to Jerusalem.

?As usual, Paul went to the Temple, and it wasn’t long before some of the Jews from the province of Asia noticed Paul and dragged him out of the Temple.

They even tried to kill him, but the Roman soldiers stopped the riot and took Paul to the fort.

About forty Jews met secretly and planned to kill Paul, so the commander of the Roman soldiers sent Paul, guarded by a troop of soldiers, to Felix the governor in Caesarea.

There, Paul was put in prison until Felix died two years later and Festus became the new commander. /

고린도교회에서 바다를 건너 항해를 하던 바울(Paul)은 그가 개척한 교회들을 방문하고 있었습니다. 바울의 긴 여정은 가이사랴(Caesarea)의 해변에있는 도시에서 끝나고 예루살렘으로 가는길은 걸어서 시작되었습니다.

바울이 성전으로 들어간지 얼마 안되서 예수님을 부인하는 유대사람들에게 들키고 말았습니다. 그들은 바울을 곧 성전밖으로 끌어냈습니다.

그 사람들은 바울을 죽이려고 까지 했지만 로마의 병사들은 그들을 진정 시키고 대신 바울을 체포하였습니다.

40여명의 유대인들은 몰래 만나서 바울을 죽이려고 계획을 짰습니다. 그래서 로마 병사의 지휘관은 바울을 보호해 가며 그를 가이사랴(Caesarea)의 총독 벨릭스(Felix)에게 보냈습니다.

그곳에서 바울은 2년동안 벨릭스가 죽고 베스도(Festus)가 새로운 총독이 될 때까지 갇혀 있었습니다.

* How can I be sure of my faith when others say I am wrong? /

Jesus was so real to Paul that it didn’t matter to him what others believed. When you are around others who don’t believe in Jesus and you wonder if their ideas could be true, remember these few points: /

바울은 예수님에 대한 확신이 있었기 때문에 다른사람들이 무었을 믿는지는 중요하지 않았습니다. 여러분이 예수님을 믿지 않는 다른 사람들에게 둘러싸여 있을때 혹시나 그들의 생각들이 맞지 않을까 혼동이 올다면 이점들을 기억해주세요:

1. Talking to Jesus is as real as talking to one of your “unseen” friends on the phone. /

? 예수님과 대화한다는 것은 것은 미치 눈에 보이지 않는 친구들과 전화통화를 하는것과 같습니다.

2. Ask the Holy Spirit to let you feel the closeness of Jesus. /

? 성령님께 예수님과 더 가까와 질수 있도록 기도해 보세요.

3. Spend time with other Christians by being around those who love Jesus. /
